If you think Hollywood is a bunch of hedonistic, sacriledge-loving carnality-mongers who only care about putting out filth, you’re wrong. They’ll put out pretty much anything, as long as it’ll make a buck.

This video is from the Today Show, and it talks about the fact that while the secular media market is generally declining, the Christian media market is going strong. As it turns out, some people want sources of good, quality entertainment, without worrying about whether or not they’re going to be submitting themselves to material that doesn’t fit within their value-set. It also talks about the massive amounts of money people are spending to find those sources of Christotainment.

So we might be onto something after all…

  1. Now, if only Christian TV and print media were able to follow Christian musicians’ example and turn out good quality stuff. Even the “Christian” movie industry is a mixed bag, with Christian studios turning out subpar stuff (Left Behind and The Nativity Story) and non-Christian studios producing Christian material, with or without the assistance of Christians (Chronicles of Narnia).

    With all his problems, which may only show he’s human just like the rest of us, thank God for Mel Gibson. His movie may not have been the most entertaining movie, at least it was high quality and authentic, a combination we need more of.
